Atlanta Attorney Lin Wood has had a tumultuous several months. The former lawyer for the JonBenet Ramsey family, who recently had a former lawyer for Jeff Epstein send a demand letter to Vegas mogul Steve Wynn, keeps finding trouble. The latest is a lawsuit in South Carolina against an LLC linked to Lin Wood. The defendant is “Tomotley Crew LLC.” The Plaintiff, I.P. Builders LLC, says it did work on the “Tomotely Plantation” and was stiffed.

According to a February 2021 article in US News & World Reports :

“Over the past year, an LLC linked to Wood has purchased three plantations totaling more than $16 million in South Carolina’s Beaufort County, a coastal area south of Charleston popular with retirees, known for its low-lying marshlands.”

“According to The Island Packet of Hilton Head, Wood acknowledged forming The Tomotley Crew LLC, through which he purchased more than 2,000 acres in the area, including Tomotley Plantation.”

US News & World Report notes “the $7.9 million property” includes a “14-acre lake.” Half-mile entry ways are lined with “live oak trees planted in 1820.” Photos from the Tomotley Plantation are something to see.

The Grift

Yet, notwithstanding the photos, or the reported Wood formed LLC’s purchase of three plantations totaling more than $16 million, Wood says he needs the general public’s money to defend against 1600-page bar complaint against him.

Chew on that for a minute. Give it some thought. Look at the photos.

Remarkable.

The Lawsuit

Tomotely LLC hired the contractor to do work on the Main House and Manager’s House at the plantation in early-to-mid 2020. Work was done. Bills sent out. Debts allegedly not paid in a full.

The contractor says $235,635.32 is outstanding. A demand letter allegedly sent and ignored, a lawsuit filed on February 22, 2021.

The lawsuit asserts claims for breach of contract, violation of South Carolina statute, and quantum meruit.

Money Issues

A Wood formed LLC allegedly stiffing a contractor is perhaps not surprising.

Questions have been raised about donations received for Kyle Rittenhouse by #FightBack Foundation, the same 501(c)(4) Wood is now apparently using to raise funds for himself.

Wood is on the #FightBack Board, there have been accusations of theft, misallocation of funds, threats of lawsuits and complaints over lack of transparency.

The circus appears never ending.
